Tips for Ghost Hunting
- Carry Picture I.D. - To verify who you are
- Use common sense above all
- Never investigate alone.
- Never set foot on private property without permission.
- Clean your equipment.
- Be respectful of the locations and of the deceased.
- Always be professional.
- Provocation can be dangerous.
- Promote positive energy during an investigation.
- Let the entities know what you are doing and why you are there. Invite them to have their picture taken.
- Be objective. Look for logical reasons for everything. Debunk it!
- It's always a good idea to have a cell phone with you, just in case...
- Cigarettes and alcohol do not belong in the investigation area.
- Interview witness(es) - get the whole story.
- Check batteries. Make sure they're charged.
- Always remember, the living come first. Never endanger the other members of your team.
- Always use fresh audio and video tapes to obtain the highest quality recordings. This will eliminate artifacts from old recordings.
- Make no conclusions on site. Share no conclusions or opinions with clients until the reveal. All the reports, photos, and tapes must be reviewed before we can make any conlcusions. These guidelines will make us appear more professional and caring to the clients' needs.
- Every member must keep a log of events/times. Everything needs to be logged, no matter how trivial. If you sneeze, log it in. It may sound like something else to another investigator somewhere else in the area. The best way of doing this is to make a note in your voice/video recorder.
- Reports must be turned in by each member that attended the investigation within 1 week. The form is availiable on our site through a secure link. We do this so that a formal report for the client can be given within 2 weeks of an investigation.
- All members and clients, if possible, need to walk throught the location upon arrival. One member should map the location, noting: air vents, heaters, electrical appliances, computer, light sources, fuse boxes, reflective objects, etc. One member should take 10-15 test photos during the walk through. (As a comparison for pictures later)
- Do not wear perfume, cologne, or anything with a noticeable scent. This is so someone doesn't mistake the smell for a supernatural occurance. Spirits will sometimes use smells to get our attention.
